Hey Photographer! Can you believe we are already on week 8 of the Hey Photographer’s series? Time flies when you’re learning, right? If you’ve missed any of the previous posts, click here!
Okay, on to the good stuff!
You probably work for yourself, right? You’re a one-man show doing everything from booking sessions, to editing, to scheduling, and probably bookkeeping too. With all the job responsibilities, I know it can turn into frustration. And frustration turns into feeling uninspired and shutting down both physically and emotionally. I’m saying this from experience.
For this week’s Hey Photographer Series post, I’m giving you 3 tips on where to find inspiration!
A small tidbit to remember is that your work is your work. No one can create the same way you can. Find inspiration and then make it your own.
Pinterest is full of tips and tricks. Essentially, it’s a search engine. Like Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. When you are headed to a session, look up “Poses for Photo Session”, or “Couple Photos”. Use it to your advantage, especially with a way to execute your ideas right away. If you aren’t headed to a session or even in a slow season, look up ways to photograph what’s around you. Nature, office space, pets, etc.
This is my go-to when I just can’t shut my brain off and focus on work. Podcasts get my creative juices flowing. A few podcasts that I love are the Goal Digger Podcast with Jenna Kutcher, The Influencer Podcast with Julie Soloman, The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey. They are all similar to a workshop session, but you can listen to it in the comfort of your own home. or car. If you have time, I suggest grabbing a piece of paper and taking notes while listening. Every topic in these podcasts I can implement in my business or life. I promise you will be able to do the same!
The last way to find inspiration is through Facebook Groups. I have found so many groups that pertain to photographers. People post questions, their recent sessions, tips on how running a business, etc. I love how we can connect even miles apart. Here are a few groups I am a part of:
